Burrow played in the Bengals\u2019 first two preseason games this August. He was on the field for two drives against the Philadelphia Eagles on August 7 and three more drives against the Washington Commanders earlier this week.In the Commanders game, which happened in Landover, Maryland, Burrow got sacked by three defenders while trying to scramble instead of sliding.This worried many fans, and the decision to play the team\u2019s star, who is worth $275 million, was criticized. During the game, ESPN\u2019s Joe Buck even said, \u201cGo down, Joe, it\u2019s August,\u201d reminding everyone that preseason games don\u2019t count.Zac Taylor said on Wednesday, \u201cI\u2019m not expecting any starters to participate.\u201d He made it clear that while he spoke to Joe Burrow about plans, he hasn\u2019t gone to every starter personally. \u201cBut, they aren\u2019t playing,\u201d Taylor explained to reporters. Zac Taylor explains resting starters and Burrow\u2019s health ahead of 2025 NFL season<\/p>\n

After the last game against Washington, Burrow talked about what happened. Speaking to ESPN on Monday, August 18, Burrow said, \u201cStill got some kinks to work out. Some good plays, some bad plays, that\u2019s football. But it’s good to make those mistakes in the preseason this year rather than the regular season.\u201d Burrow pointed out that he missed a third down and took a bad sack that he would like to have back.Coach Zac Taylor stuck with his plan to let Burrow play more snaps in the preseason this year because Cincinnati started the last three NFL seasons with losses.This year, though, Burrow and the other key players will sit out to make sure they are ready and healthy for the first regular season game on September 7 against the Cleveland Browns.Taylor said this week, \u201cI feel good about where our team\u2019s at right now\u2026I\u2019m excited to get through the preseason and go play games because I see what I see in practice.\u201d The Bengals are looking to start the 2025 regular season strong with Joe Burrow healthy and ready to go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Will Joe Burrow play against the Indianapolis Colts today?
