The announcers for the Pittsburgh Steelers\u2019 Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland have been revealed. Joe Davis (play-by-play), Greg Olsen (color analyst), Pam Oliver (sideline) and Jamie Erdahl (sideline) will have the call from Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, the NFL announced<\/a> in a press release on Thursday. <\/p>\n

The game will be broadcasted on NFL Network. It will also be available for streaming across devices with NFL+. Kickoff is at 9:30 a.m. EST. <\/p>\n

The Steelers-Vikings game on Sept. 28 will be the first NFL regular season game ever played in Ireland<\/a>. It will be a historic event on many fronts.<\/p>\n

It will be the first time<\/a> a game between two teams has been playing in three different countries. The last time the Steelers played an international game was, coincidentally, against the Vikings<\/a> on Sept. 29, 2013 in London.<\/p>\n

The Vikings will play in Dublin against the Steelers in Week 4, before returning to London to face the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 5. They\u2019ll be the first team to play in two different countries<\/a> outside the United States in back-to-back weeks. It will be their fifth trip to London, and third in four years. The Vikings are 4-0 in international regular season games.<\/p>\n

Steelers president Art Rooney II had strongly advocated for a game in Ireland on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there but because it allows us to connect with Irish fans while also giving fans who travel from Pittsburgh and beyond a unique football experience,\u201d Rooney said in a press release. \u201cWe are thrilled to be part of this historic event and to represent Pittsburgh on a global stage.\u201d <\/p>\n

Rooney reiterated in a recent interview with Andrew Stockey of WTAE<\/a> that the team\u2019s itinerary for next month\u2019s Ireland game against the Vikings will be the same as the London trip in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the team is planning to leave on Thursday, arriving In Dublin on Friday morning,\u201d Rooney told Stockey. \u201cSo we\u2019ll have two practices Friday and Saturday. And the game on Sunday. And leave right after the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an episode of his Not Just Football podcast in May, Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward provided insight<\/a> on the Steelers last trip overseas, and to say the least, things did not go well. The Steelers lost to the Vikings, 34-27, dropping to 0-4 on the season.<\/p>\n

According to Heyward, the Steelers made a mistake by traveling to London later in the week. The Steelers were lethargic due to the time difference. Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also had similar comments<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe left Thursday night and arrived Friday morning,\u201d Heyward said on his Not Just Football <\/a>podcast. \u201cEverybody was asleep during practice. Everybody was falling asleep during the stretch. Then we had meetings after, everybody fell asleep there. Then, during the game, everybody was asleep in the first half. It\u2019s rough because you\u2019re going, what? It\u2019ll be five hours ahead? So you\u2019re trying to get sleep on a plane going over there. It\u2019s not ideal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite how things unfolded in 2013, Rooney is not changing the travel plans.<\/p>\n
