By Tuesday 4 p.m. ET, they and the rest of the league will need to be below the 53-player threshold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">How New England will get there remains to be seen, but their practice attendance on Monday might give us some further clues. In total, 13 players were missing \u2014 a net increase of two compared to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patspulpit.com\/new-england-patriots-roster\/107316\/patriots-sunday-practice-participation-hints-at-possible-roster-moves\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sunday\u2019s session<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Wide receivers Ja\u2019Lynn Polk, Kendrick Bourne and Efton Chism, running back Terrell Jennings, offensive lineman Cole Strange, linebackers Anfernee Jennings, Jahlani Tavai and Jack Gibbens, cornerback Christian Gonzalez and safety Marcus Epps returned as non-participants on Monday. Joining them on the list of absentees were roster-exempt defensive lineman David Olajiga, edge Bradyn Swinson and cornerback Kobee Minor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Guard Layden Robinson, who was not spotted on Sunday, has since been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patspulpit.com\/new-england-patriots-news\/107336\/patriots-waive-layden-robinson-injured-nfl-roster-cuts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">waived with an injury designation<\/a>. The 2024 fourth-round draft pick will revert to New England\u2019s injured reserve list if not claimed off waivers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Mike Vrabel met with the media ahead of Monday\u2019s session, and at one point was asked specifically about Gonzalez\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cHe\u2019s working hard to get healthy,\u201d the Patriots\u2019 first-year head coach explained. \u201cI think that\u2019s what I try to remind you guys all the time, that will be my stance on injuries, that I\u2019m confident that the players are working hard and they\u2019re doing what they\u2019re asked to do. Once they recover from something that they\u2019re working through \u2014 especially if it\u2019s been in training camp, if you look at this specific situation, there is some conditioning that\u2019s involved. I think that\u2019s probably different for each guy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cIn my own personal experience, you can only ride the bike so long or do the stair climb or something. You actually have to come out and put pads on, run, and get into football conditioning. Whatever that takes, that takes. I\u2019ve said that to every player that is not out there with us right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">In order to get their roster to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon, the Patriots have several avenues available.
