Tyquan Thornton has found his footing with the Chiefs. <\/p>\n
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz<\/a>, the speedy wideout has made Kansas City\u2019s 53-man roster. A Patriots<\/a> second-round pick in 2022, Thornton was never able to make an impact in Foxborough, but will have a chance to with the reigning AFC champions this season. <\/p>\n Thornton struggled to stay on the field during his three years with the Patriots, catching 39 passes for 385 yards in 28 games. He hauled in 51% of his targets and began each of his first two seasons on injured reserve. In the midst of an underwhelming 2024 (four receptions, 47 yards) the Patriots waived Thornton last November. <\/p>\n From there he landed on Kansas City\u2019s practice squad, and then made the most of his chance during training camp this summer. Thornton earned first team reps at times, and put an exclamation point on his strong camp in the preseason finale. <\/p>\n During the first quarter against the Bears, Thornton ran past two Chicago defenders and tracked down a 58-yard deep ball <\/a>from Patrick Mahomes, diving to make the catch. The second-rounder flashed that potential on the practice field in Foxborough \u2014 especially in shorts and tee shirts \u2014 but struggled to translate it to game day. <\/p>\n In Kansas City, Thornton has done his best to realize that potential this summer.<\/p>\n \u201cTyquan Thornton\u2019s roster spot was not in doubt,\u201d K.C.
