Indianapolis Colts’ <\/a>offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter met with reporters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In case you missed the press conference, here are the highlights from it:<\/p>\n

– “Those guys are eager to compete. Competition makes us all better,” Cooter said about Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. “Spring’s always a good time of the year to dive back into the details.”<\/p>\n

– “He’s working on different aspects of his game,” Cooter said. This includes footwork, as Richardson has mentioned. This is a good time of the year to fine-tune what’s needed, Cooter said of the quarterback position in general.<\/p>\n

– Cooter says of self-scouting during the offseason, the coaching staff looks at everything from player performance to the game plans they’ve put together. “Ultimately we’re looking at can we learn from last year things that helps us improve next year.” It’s a valuable process he adds to look backwards in order to move forward. “We sort of strip it all down and put it back together.”<\/p>\n

– “A lot of aspects,” said Cooter when asked what has to improve in the passing game. Right now, it’s a focus on running routes a certain way, footwork for quarterbacks, mechanics, but during the season, that becomes more dynamic because now you have to account for what the opponent is doing–it’s not just routes on air. “We’re working on improving in the pass game, run game, protection, all that stuff.”<\/p>\n

– “He looks good,” Cooter said of Michael Pittman, who is coming off a back injury that he played through last season.<\/p>\n

– “He’s in here going about his business the right way. Studying, asking questions, making notes,” Cooter said of Daniel Jones. “He’s looking good out there throwing the ball around, moving around.” Cooter adds that there’s a lot of information a quarterback has to work through when new to a system like Jones is. “He’s doing a great job of that.”<\/p>\n

– “Lou was pretty tough in Cincinnati..that Cincinnati defense was really, really good,” Cooter says of Anarumo. Mentions that he does a good job of putting his players in a position to be successful.<\/p>\n

– “Offensively they did a bunch of unique, cool stuff last year,” said Cooter about Tyler Warren at Penn State. Cooter mentions Warren’s ability to line up at different spots, go in motion, and “he’s super versatile for them.” Cooter adds: “There’s a lot of tape of him doing a lot of different things.”<\/p>\n

– “Everybody in this league is working to refine their process,” said Cooter on Richardson. “As a young player coming into this league, you learn a lot about the best way for you individually to attack that process.” As you get more experience, quarterbacks find tweaks to make to their week-to-week process. “Anthony’s developing and working through doing that to give himself the best chance to have success on Sunday.”<\/p>\n
