Pittsburgh Steelers have ‘checked in’ on trade for disgruntled $33 million wide receiver<\/a> originally appeared on The Sporting News<\/a><\/p>\n

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly expressed interest in a $33 million wide receiver who recently requested a trade.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there was at least one team that has reached out to the Las Vegas Raiders to inquire about wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who recently asked to be traded<\/a> after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.<\/p>\n

Schefter added that the team that called the Raiders wanted Las Vegas to pick up some of Meyers’ salary, but the Raiders weren’t interested in doing that or even trading him at all.<\/p>\n

“My understanding is the Raiders had one team reach out to trade for Jakobi Meyers but they wanted them to pick up some of his salary,” Schefter told Pat McAfee<\/a>. “The Raiders aren’t willing to do that and they’re not looking to deal him”<\/p>\n

Many Steelers fans believed that sounded like a call general manager Omar Khan would make and, as it turns out, it appears it was indeed him.<\/p>\n

According to Adam Crowley of 93.7 The Fan, Khan “checked in” on Meyers<\/a> and indeed wanted the Raiders to eat some of his salary in a trade.<\/p>\n

Meyers would be a perfect fit for the Steelers’ need for a legit No. 2 wide receiver behind DK Metcalf, but chances are the Raiders aren’t going to trade Meyers.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest the team has no interest, and in reality they can’t afford to deal the veteran wideout because of how important he is to the offense.<\/p>\n

It looks like the Steelers will have to look elsewhere for help at a position that desperately needs an impact addition.<\/p>\n
