The veteran is an elite wideout and should quickly develop chemistry with Aaron Rodgers as the season progresses. Rodgers could play at an elite level once again if the veteran proves to be healthy, with Metcalf remaining as one of the top deep ball threats in all of football. Rodgers recently made an appearance on Not Just Football hosted by Cam Heyward, where the veteran quarterback gave an inside look at his initial thoughts on playing with Metcalf in 2025.

Rodgers’ claimed Metcalf was a one of a kind receiver, as the 20-year vet noted that Metcalf was one of the most impressive playmakers he has ever played with.

“I haven’t had a guy like DK,” Rodgers stated. “In my career, I’ve had some taller receivers, but DK’s got a unique skill set. I would say the one thing I appreciate the most about him, and maybe it’s because I’m old, but I do believe there’s a way that you play this game and a playstyle. The great ones that I have been around, and there’s been a couple, they practice the right way.”

Rodgers then continued on to talk about Metcalf’s clear love and passion for the game.

“When this guy catches the ball, he finishes every single time,” Rodgers explained. “It’s something that really melts my heart, because it’s really just the love of the game.”

Rodgers is a four-time MVP and future first ballot Hall of Famer. The legendary quarterback is considered to be one of the greatest of all-time and will look to prove that he still has something left in the tank at age 41. Both Metcalf and Rodgers should benefit from playing with each other throughout the course of the season, as the duo will begin the year as one of the most underrated deep ball threats in all of football.

Gene J. The veteran will start for Pittsburgh in 2025 while still being just two seasons removed from a torn Achilles suffered on the opening drive of the 2023 NFL season. Rodgers poked fun at a potential return to the Steelers for a second year if all goes well, as the veteran said maybe to Metcalf when the receiver asked him if he would run it back.

Rodgers has left the slight possibility of returning for a second year open for now. The 41 year old will more than likely retire following the conclusion of this season, but a promising campaign from Rodgers and the rest of the Steelers’ offense could prove otherwise. Rodgers will enter 2025 fully recovered from his Achilles injury and will presumably be the healthiest he has been in years to start the season.

Jordan Schofield / SteelerNation (X: @JSKO_PHOTO)

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) during 2025 training camp in Latrobe, PA.

Both Rodgers and Metcalf have continued to develop chemistry throughout the offseason and could find themselves among the top offensive weapons in the league should all go well.
