After speaking with executives, scouts, and coaches, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler<\/a> emptied his post-NFL draft notebook and included were NFL comps at both wide receiver and cornerback for Jacksonville Jaguars’ <\/a>first-round pick Travis Hunter.<\/p>\n

According to Fowler, multiple scouts compared Hunter to Stefon Diggs at wide receiver and his brother Trevon Diggs at cornerback.<\/p>\n

“The Jaguars<\/a> got their coveted receiver help — and more — with the trade up to acquire Travis Hunter<\/a> — essentially acquiring both of the Diggs brothers with the selection, as multiple scouts pointed out wide receiver Stefon Diggs<\/a> and cornerback Trevon Diggs<\/a> as comps,” Fowler wrote.<\/p>\n

Stefon Diggs was a fifth-round draft pick by Minnesota in 2015 and has gone on to have a highly productive career. From 2017 through 2023, he had eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in each of those seasons. This includes a 1,800-yard season in 2020, a 1,500-yard season in 2022, and three other years where he surpassed 1,200 yards. He’s also caught 74 touchdowns as well.<\/p>\n

Trevon Diggs, meanwhile, has been a ballhawk during his career. From 2020 through 2023, he recorded 18 interceptions and 33 pass breakups. This includes an 11-interception season in 2021 and three seasons with nine-plus pass breakups.<\/p>\n

For his career, he’s allowed a completion rate of 61% and a passer rating of 83.5, according to PFF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The plan that the Jaguars have for Hunter is to get him onboarded at the wide receiver position<\/a>, and from there, as he gets acclimated, cornerback responsibilities will be added to his plate.<\/p>\n

I can envision a plan for Hunter that includes the majority of his snaps coming on offense, while on defense, he sees the field during obvious passing situations, where his ball skills and natural cover ability can be on display.<\/p>\n
