The Vikings \u201cwant state lawmakers to put up to\u201d $20M a year in tax revenue \u201cfrom electronic pulltab gambling toward the future upkeep of U.S. Bank Stadium,\u201d according to Christopher Magan of the MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority \u201cestimates the nine-year-old facility will need nearly\u201d $300M in maintenance over the coming decade. Minnesota state Sen. Nick Frentz, a \u201cprimary sponsor\u201d of the proposal, told the Senate Taxes Committee yesterday that an \u201congoing stream of revenue for capital improvements was key to keeping the stadium in top shape.\u201d Magan noted that although the proposal has \u201cbipartisan support in both chambers,\u201d it still \u201cfaces uncertainty.\u201d Minneapolis \u201cstill owes money on its portion of the construction debt and makes other annual contributions to the stadium that city leaders would like to modify if the Legislature OKs ongoing state funding.\u201d Vikings representatives and stadium officials noted that the team \u201cpays roughly\u201d $12M a year in rent and contributions toward capital improvements.
