{"id":330971,"date":"2025-08-31T11:48:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-31T11:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/330971\/"},"modified":"2025-08-31T11:48:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T11:48:13","slug":"nfl-analyst-says-giants-qb-russell-wilson-has-this-alarming-weakness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/330971\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL analyst says Giants QB Russell Wilson has this alarming weakness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has brought some much-needed stability to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-giants\/351\" data-autotag=\"9402befb-12da-4b26-905a-81ab1fea0850\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New York Giants<\/a>&#8216; offense, which has been one of the NFL&#8217;s worst the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The 10-time Pro Bowler offers an upbeat attitude and the ability to stretch the field, two huge positives as the team seeks to turn the corner back into contention.<\/p>\n<p>But the positives don&#8217;t come without negatives as well. Wilson does have some weaknesses, as pointed out by John Kosko of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/news\/nfl-quarterback-kryptonite-biggest-weaknesses-every-nfl-starting-qb-2025#NYG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Pro Football Focus<\/a>: Generating positive plays.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson produced a positive play last season at the lowest rate (19.6%) of the 32 projected starting quarterbacks in 2025. While he can still unleash a beauty of a big-time throw (6.1%, tied for fifth in the NFL), living off the big play isn\u2019t a winning recipe in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson&#8217;s big-time throw rate last season tied with Lamar Jackson, but Jackson earned a positive grade ar a rate nearly 12 percentage points higher. Wilson\u2019s NFL days are likely numbered, especially when his team just threw a dart at a quarterback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants aren&#8217;t really concerned. Wilson is their bridge quarterback.
