Following the Jaylen Warren extension<\/a>, the Steelers didn\u2019t take Labor Day off. Per a report from KPRC2\u2019s Aaron Wilson<\/a>, the team hosted linebacker Jon Rhattigan for a visit.<\/p>\n

Rhattigan played college football at Army, logging 78 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two interceptions in his final NCAA season. He went undrafted in 2021, signing with the Seattle Seahawks. He appeared in 36 games over the next three seasons in Seattle, not starting any games but recording 32 total tackles.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Rhattigan signed with the Carolina Panthers, playing in 16 games that season and making 12 tackles. Like in Seattle, he was primarily a special teams player. Over his career, he has 1,018 special teams snaps to just 20 on defense.<\/p>\n

Rhattigan is listed at 6\u20190,\u00a0236 pounds. Coming out of college, NFL.com\u2019s Lance Zierlein<\/a> wrote the following scouting report:<\/p>\n

Rhattigan waited a long time for his chance and made the most of it in 2020. Possessing a muscular frame with big hands, he plays with good strength and an attacking brand of football. He is quick to diagnose play flow, which helps him play faster than his timed speed. He\u2019s a team-oriented defender willing to plug run fits and play inside the defensive concept. He\u2019s always ready to get to work as a tackler operating from a durable, balanced platform as a wrap-up finisher. He has occasional coverage missteps, but is typically aware and looking to make a play when dropping into zone coverage. He\u2019s tough and reliable with special teams value, but backup duty is his ceiling.<\/p>\n

The Steelers haven\u2019t signed Rhattigan following the workout, but he\u2019s a name to keep an eye on if the Steelers find a need at linebacker over the course of the season.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh\u2019s season opener, Sept. 7 at the New York Jets, is less than a week away.<\/p>\n
