Things are getting strange in New England.<\/p>\n
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel shared a cryptic message to the media when asked why he surprisingly cut last year\u2019s defensive team captain Jabrill Peppers.<\/a><\/p>\n Vrabel said that there was no scheme fit issue for the release of Peppers. <\/p>\n Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of reasons. I wouldn\u2019t say that\u2019s \u2014 we\u2019re gonna try to do what\u2019s best for the team, and we got a lot of different schemes that we can run in all three phases\u2026There\u2019s a lot that goes into it,\u201d Vrabel told reporters on Monday. \u201cAnd again, we\u2019re just trying to build towards Sunday here, and that\u2019s our focus. And again, that\u2019s a decision that we had to make\u2026 We wish the best for Jabrill.\u201d<\/p>\n Peppers seemed to point to some scheme issue in a post on X early Monday.<\/p>\n Mike Vrabel says releasing Jabrill Peppers had nothing to do with him not being a scheme fit within his defense:<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026There\u2019s a lot of reasons. Getty Images<\/p>\n Peppers was a team captain to start last season with the Patriots, but that status was taken away when he was arrested on assault, strangulation and drug charges.<\/a><\/p>\n Peppers was acquitted on the violent charges, but did admit to cocaine possession.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Jabrill Peppers is looking for a new landing spot. X, @JabrillPeppers<\/p>\n Peppers, who spent three years with the Giants from 2019 to 2021, was a solid performer for Big Blue before departing for the Patriots in free agency.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t
