According to ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Carolina Panthers<\/a> were (sorta) in on one of the biggest deals in league history.<\/p>\n

Fowler joined 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning to discuss his new deep dive<\/a> into the Dallas’ Cowboys shocking trade of superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. When asked which teams were in on the move of the perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate, he noted that the Panthers did have interest\u2014but would’ve balked at giving up one of their own studs.<\/p>\n

“I know the Carolina Panthers inquired,” Fowler stated<\/a>. “They did not make a formal offer, but they did inquire. So they were in talks. And we heard some whispers from league circles that Micah had interest in certain teams. Green Bay was one. But a little bit of Baltimore, little bit of Kansas City, Philadelphia. Some of those teams didn’t look into it really. There wasn’t a lot of momentum in some of those other teams.<\/p>\n

“But Carolina did look into it, and Dallas would’ve had reason to look into that because of Derrick Brown\u2014star defensive tackle. They were looking for those type of players, interior d-linemen. So they made some sense, but Carolina ultimately didn’t wanna move Brown and didn’t move on that.”<\/p>\n

Brown, a Pro Bowler<\/a> in 2023, missed 16 of Carolina’s 17 games this past year due to a meniscus tear<\/a>. Without him, the Panthers went on to allow the most rushing yards per game (179.8) as well as the most points<\/a> in league history.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old, who is now in his sixth NFL campaign, is expected to be good to go for the start of the 2025 regular season on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Parsons, of course, would end up being traded to the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys received two first-round picks (2026 and 2027) and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in return.<\/p>\n
