The Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> are heading into the 2025 season with dreams of lifting a Lombardi Trophy. From the outside looking in, it\u2019s easy to laugh at that idea, but Mike Tomlin\u2019s team believes they can do it. Crazier things have happened. An elite defense can take a team far. Ask the 2015 Denver Broncos. <\/p>\n

Eerie Comparisons<\/p>\n

The 2025 Steelers haven\u2019t taken the field yet, but the connections to the 2015 Broncos are alarming. That Broncos team had an aging Peyton Manning<\/a> in the twilight of his career. The Steelers have Aaron Rodgers. Similar to Rodgers, Manning was near the end of his career, but he was still a good quarterback. <\/p>\n

Denver had a defense full of rockstars, led by former Defensive Player of the Year Von Miller. Pittsburgh has an incredible defense led by former Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt. The Broncos had a top-heavy offense with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders as the top wide receivers. Pittsburgh has D.K. Metcalf and Calvin Austin. Both teams have two stout running backs and multiple effective tight ends. <\/p>\n

The 2015 Broncos started the season with a 7-0 record. Pittsburgh has an opportunity to do the same thing. Their first seven games are against the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Green Bay Packers. It won\u2019t be easy, but those are all winnable games for Tomlin\u2019s team. Denver finished the 2015 season with a 12-4 record, and they won their division. Winning the AFC North won\u2019t be easy, but it can be done. <\/p>\n

Expectations For The Steelers<\/p>\n

Every year, people count the Steelers out, but the expectations in that building are far different, especially in 2025. Pittsburgh hasn\u2019t won a playoff game since 2017, when they went to the AFC Championship Game and lost to the Patriots. Winning Super Bowls is the standard that Tomlin is always talking about. They want to get back to that in the Steel City.\u00a0Winning regular-season games is fun, but nothing matters if they don\u2019t win the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

This season, the Steelers have put all their chips on the table. They spent the offseason acquiring difference makers. Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay, Juan Thornhill, Kenneth Gainwell, and Aaron Rodgers know what it takes to win the big game. General Manager Omar Khan did everything in his power to change the narrative this offseason. Now, it\u2019s time for the players to do their job. <\/p>\n

Winning games in the NFL Playoffs isn\u2019t easy for a list of reasons, but fans don\u2019t want excuses. They want Super Bowl parades. Aaron Rodgers robbed the city of Pittsburgh of a parade once. Now, he has an opportunity to make it up to them. The fans want a ring, but a couple of playoff wins would go a long way with them. It\u2019s time to win in the Steel City.<\/p>\n
