The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their 2025 NFL Draft by making a total of five selections<\/a>. Donovan Jackson was the gem of the class as he was taken 24th overall<\/a>. Kwesi Afodo-Mensah maneuvered throughout the draft process and traded back multiple times. Ultimately he wound up with an additional selection in the sixth round.<\/p>\n Minnesota didn\u2019t get involved during the seventh round, but they quickly got to work after Mr. Irrelevant\u2019s name was called. As has been the case in recent seasons, the Vikings compiled a sizable class of undrafted free agents.<\/p>\n 2025 Minnesota Vikings undrafted free agents<\/p>\n Prior to the draft, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did plenty of work in free agency<\/a>, a spending spree that allowed the Vikings to remain patient during the draft. He entered the weekend hoping to hear his name called, at some point. That\u2019s now how reality unfolded, however.<\/p>\n Instead, he went undrafted, then got $250K guaranteed to join what has to be the youngest QB room in the NFL, with JJ McCarthy (22), Brosmer (24), the old man in the room they really like<\/a>, Brett Rypien (28) and newly acquired Sam Howell (24), who was acquired via draft day trade on Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n Given the large contingent<\/a> of Vikings coaches and scouts at the University of Minnesota Pro Day, it\u2019s not a surprise to see Brosmer wind up in purple. Max transferred to Minnesota, after winning FCS MVP for the University of New Hampshire in 2023, before he put up one of the best seasons in a storied U of M football history.<\/p>\n Roster competitions for new Vikings free agents<\/p>\n There are a couple of other notable trends to key in on, with the 2025 Minnesota Vikings undrafted free agency class. They signed four players from Auburn. One of them is a punter, Oscar Chapman, who\u2019ll present yet another training camp competition for Ryan Wright.<\/p>\n Chapman was a five-year starter for the Tigers<\/a>, where he averaged 43.5 yards per punt. Ryan Wright bounced back last season after a poor sophomore season, though his 46.5 yards per punt was the lowest of his career. His 8.9% touchback rate<\/a> wasn\u2019t the 1.4% he posted as a rookie, either, but it did come in below his 11.9% from 2023. Ryan Wright also landed 27 punts inside the opponent\u2019s 20-yard-line last year, up ten from the season prior.<\/p>\n Although Minnesota drafted tight end Gavin Bartholomew in the sixth round, they\u2019re still looking for more tight end depth, with both Nick Muse and Johnny Mundt gone. Yet, the Minnesota Vikings added just two CBs in undrafted free agency. In total, 8 of the Vikings\u2019 20 UDFA signings came on the defensive side of the ball. Is there any chance Kwesi Adofo-Mensah found his next Ivan Pace Jr. from this group? Let\u2019s cross our fingers.<\/p>\n New punt returner for the MN Vikings?<\/p>\n Last season, it was Brandon Powell who handled all but one punt return<\/a> for the MN Vikings. He is no longer part of the organization. While Jalen Nailor and Ty Chandler could factor in there, undrafted free agent Silas Bolden may be the best fit.<\/p>\n After four years at Oregon State, Bolden transferred to Texas last season. He caught 23 passes for 267 yards<\/a> and one touchdown. His 30 punt returns led the SEC though, and he housed one of them. At his pro day Bolden was clocked at sub 4.4 speed during his 40-yard-dash<\/a>. That burst could have him being an intriguing option for Kevin O\u2019Connell to brandish out of the gate.<\/p>\n It\u2019s unlikely Bolden factors into the passing game after Minnesota selected Tai Felton in the third round.
