Not to mention, they’re the two highest-earning players in league history, with Rodgers barely holding an edge over Stafford.

They’ve both had terrific careers but with four MVPs, Rodgers has the better resume than Stafford. That could change if Stafford wins another ring, though.

Colin Cowherd is of the belief that Stafford will finish his career with a better legacy than Rodgers if he can reach and win another Super Bowl – which he believes is possible this year, with the Rams being one of about six teams with a legitimate chance to win it all.

“Matthew Stafford is never going to struggle with egg prices. He could have struggled with a New York Giants offensive line. It’s a smart move,” Cowherd said Wednesday. “I’ve always had this theory that if Matt Stafford gets to another Super Bowl and wins – and I do think there’s about six teams that could do it, and the Rams are one of them – I think Stafford will be viewed historically better than Aaron Rodgers. So if you look at Aaron against Matt Stafford since the 2021 playoffs just go look at the numbers here. Matt has become a much better playoff quarterback. They both have a Super Bowl. Matt was better than Aaron in high school, college, and the first four years in the NFL. And he’s been better the last four years.”

Rodgers has about 3,000 more passing yards than Stafford in his career and 136 more touchdown passes, so while Stafford has a chance to catch Rodgers in passing yards, he’ll have a hard time eclipsing his 503 touchdown passes – especially if Rodgers keeps playing.

They both have one Super Bowl ring as of now but Rodgers has 10 Pro Bowls, five All-Pro selections and four MVPs. Stafford has made two Pro Bowls and no All-Pro teams.

If we’re basing their careers on the likelihood of making the Hall of Fame, it’s not particularly close because Rodgers is a first-ballot guy and Stafford is a fringe candidate. But if Stafford wins another ring and becomes one of just 19 quarterbacks to have multiple championships, it’ll strengthen his case significantly.

This article originally appeared on Rams Wire: Matthew Stafford could finish with better career than Aaron Rodgers

Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers have long been linked as former NFC North rivals who are also two…

[2079
1586,6405,7,1014,58,2444,2611,32,56,6,424,12461
0":"post-34083","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-los-angeles-rams","8":"tag-aaron-rodgers","9":"tag-colin-cowherd","10":"tag-football","11":"tag-los-angeles","12":"tag-los-angeles-rams","13":"tag-losangeles","14":"tag-losangelesrams","15":"tag-matthew-stafford","16":"tag-new-york-giants","17":"tag-nfl","18":"tag-rams","19":"tag-super-bowl-ring
["GET
