The New York Giants performed the ultimate quarterback room overhaul this offseason, signing former Pro Bowlers Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston before trading up to select Ole Miss product Jaxson Dart in round one.<\/p>\n
Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced after the 2025 NFL Draft that Russell Wilson would be the starting quarterback. Jaxson Dart is the long-term option, so it was between Tommy DeVito and Jameis Winston<\/a> for the QB3 job. The Giants chose Winston, waiving DeVito before the New England Patriots<\/a> picked him up.<\/p>\n Winston was signed to a two-year deal worth $8 million in free agency, so it wouldn\u2019t cost the Giants much if they were to release him. Otherwise, finding a trade partner for the cheap two-year deal shouldn\u2019t be difficult.<\/p>\n NFL insider Josina Anderson welcomed Pat Leonard from the New York Daily News and Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Sports on the latest episode of her show, The Exhibit. The three discussed Winston\u2019s unclear future with the Giants, and Hill floated the idea of the No. 1 pick of 2025 returning to the New Orleans Saints.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s be honest, Jameis should be the starting quarterback in New Orleans. He embraced that city. That city loves him. They have no quarterback. He should be the starting quarterback in New Orleans.\u201d<\/p>\n The Giants kick off the 2025 season with a road tilt against the NFC East rival Washington Commanders on Sunday.<\/p>\n Saints Should Definitely Consider A Reunion With Jameis Winston Many think that the Saints want to tank for Arch Manning<\/a>, with an unproven 2024 fifth-round pick, Spencer Rattler, earning the starting quarterback job. He\u2019ll be backed up by rookie Tyler Shough, whom the Saints drafted in round two.<\/p>\n The Saints initially viewed Winston as a succession plan to Drew Brees, but the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter struggled with turnover woes and couldn\u2019t stay healthy. He backed up Derek Carr in 2023 and spent last season with the Cleveland Browns, making seven starts.<\/p>\n Winston may not be a full-time starter anymore, but he is an upgrade over Rattler and Shough.
