His season is over. Very unfortunate news. The Eagles officially placed BVS on injured reserve to make room to sign Za\u2019Darius Smith to the roster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Things seemed to spiral out of control quickly on Thursday night when the Eagles took the field against the Cowboys, and FB Ben VanSumeren was injured on the opening kickoff. He threw his helmet in frustration, indicating this wasn\u2019t a minor issue. The fullback was pretty quickly ruled out by the Eagles due to a knee injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">VanSumeren had a good summer and was expected to have a bigger role this season, both on special teams and a smattering of opportunities on offense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Unfortunately, the plan will now be placed on hold as the fullback deals with whatever took him out of the game mere seconds after the initial whistle.
