GREEN BAY \u2014 Seven Green Bay Packers \u2014 including new star defensive end Micah Parsons and cornerback Nate Hobbs \u2014 are listed as questionable for Sunday\u2019s season-opening matchup with the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Now, not all questionable injury designations are created equal, and while Parsons certainly sounded like a guy who expects to play \u2014 he said he can\u2019t wait to \u201csee how they\u2019re going to unleash me\u201d \u2014 Hobbs probably has more to prove before getting the go-ahead to suit up.<\/p>\n
Hobbs practiced on Thursday and Friday, his first two practices since tearing the meniscus in his right knee during a July 31 practice and undergoing arthroscopic surgery two days later.<\/p>\n
He was limited in his participation, though, and it\u2019s unclear whether he did any 11-on-11 work. All 53 players practiced those two days on at least a limited basis, but the NFL\u2019s injury report rules don\u2019t require teams to divulge what specific work they did.<\/p>\n
\u201cNate\u2019s a dawg. He\u2019s a great competitor. That\u2019s why we got him,\u201d head coach Matt LaFleur said. \u201cHe\u2019s really worked hard at doing all the little things to put him in this position to potentially play on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n
But, LaFleur acknowledged, missing more than a month of practice time in a new defensive system after coming over from the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency is less than ideal circumstances, and while Hobbs may believe he\u2019s good to go, that may not be the right call.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes, he\u2019s a guy that\u2019s going to tell you that everything\u2019s good, but you\u2019ve got to be confident with what you see when he\u2019s out there and how he performs,\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cSometimes, you\u2019ve got to protect some of these guys from themselves. I would put him that bucket.\u201d<\/p>\n
Parsons, meanwhile, took part in all four practices of the week on a limited basis and figures to play but be on a pitch count. The back issue that he has been dealing with since long before his trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Packers didn\u2019t seem any worse for wear after his week of work.<\/p>\n
He also may not need an anti-inflammatory injection in order to play, as had been suggested earlier in the week, because the prednisone prescription he got from the Cowboys\u2019 medical staff appears to have helped significantly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started that [medication] last week while I was getting treatment there [in Dallas], We finished the pack and hopefully that works plus treatment to get me back to 100 [percent],\u201d Parsons said Thursday. \u201cI’ve been at treatment every day and we’ve been attacking it and being aggressive to get me as healthy and as quick as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The five other players listed as questionable are wide receivers Jayden Reed (foot), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (hamstring), defensive end Barryn Sorrell (knee) and safety Zayne Anderson (knee).<\/p>\n
Quarterback Jordan Love (left thumb) and center Elgton Jenkins (hip) are off the injury report and will play.<\/p>\n
