Eagles trade for Micah Parsons was desired by former Cowboys star, too, before Packers deal<\/a> originally appeared on The Sporting News<\/a><\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles wanted Micah Parsons.<\/p>\n

Parsons would’ve been happy to go there, too, based on the latest reports.<\/p>\n

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini<\/a>\u00a0reported Saturday that Parsons had two teams in mind if he was going to be traded from the Dallas Cowboys: the Green Bay Packers, and the Eagles.<\/p>\n

This is what Russini wrote.<\/p>\n

“Green Bay appealed for its small-town feel, a reminder of his Penn State days in State College. Philadelphia was the other obvious fit, because it’s close to his Harrisburg home. But Dallas wasn’t about to keep him inside the NFC East, even for a better offer.”<\/p>\n

We all know how this turned out. Parsons is a Packer.<\/p>\n

Green Bay traded its next two first-round picks, along with defensive tackle Kenny Clark, to get Parsons.<\/p>\n

And as long as Parsons’ back is OK, he’ll make his Packers debut Sunday at home against the Detroit Lions.<\/p>\n

But man, that would’ve been wild to see him go to the Eagles.<\/p>\n

It was reported earlier this week that the Eagles had pursued it. But to hear that Parsons would’ve been good with it is even more fascinating.<\/p>\n

Of course, Jerry Jones wouldn’t have wanted Parsons to stay in his own division. The Eagles probably could’ve offered the moon and not gotten the deal done.<\/p>\n

Parsons gets to play Dallas in primetime in a few weeks, anyway, so he’ll get his revenge game.<\/p>\n

The Eagles will just have to defend their Super Bowl championship without Parsons. They did sign a new pass rusher, Za’Darius Smith, on Friday, so that helps.<\/p>\n

The rivalry vibes here are just fantastic.<\/p>\n
