It’s not exactly a secret that Chicago Bears<\/a> jokes are told 365 days a year in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

Even on the most holiest of dates on the calendar.<\/p>\n

And there’s not even a dispensation from ridicule when a native Chicagoan is suddenly chosen to be the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected the newest pope, becoming Pope Leo XIV on May 8<\/a>. Who knew the first United States-born pontiff would become immediate motivation for those wanting to poke fun as to why Bears’ opponents usually don’t have to say too many prayers on Sundays when their teams face a Chicago quarterback.<\/p>\n

Caleb Williams is being counted on to eventually to solve the team’s long history of passing woes, but after further and further review \u2026<\/p>\n

Its a fairly laughable number that doesn’t lie. Only Erik Kramer and Jay Cutler have thrown for at least 3,800 yards while playing for the Bears.<\/p>\n

For a bit of perspective, Aaron Rodgers passed for at least 4,000 yards 10 times while with the Packers<\/a> and Brett Favre did it in five. Jordan Love has played two full seasons in Green Bay under center and thrown for 4,000 yards once.<\/p>\n

But, maybe with the new pope on their side, this is the year Williams and the Bears are within a Hail Mary heave of the 4,000-yard passing mark.<\/p>\n
