Drake London exited Sunday’s season opener between the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth quarter due to a shoulder injury<\/a> and did not return. The Falcons<\/a> were already thin at the wide receiver position going into Sunday’s game. Darnell Mooney is also battling a shoulder injury that kept him out of Week 1.<\/p>\n

Considering Mooney was a game-time decision, he will likely make his season debut in Week 2, but what about London? Head coach Raheem Morris<\/a> didn’t have a clear update after the game and said he would know more on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, London suffered a shoulder strain and is considered day-to-day. The fourth-year receiver appears to have avoided a major injury, but there’s still some uncertainty about his status for next Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.<\/p>\n

The Falcons could be in trouble if both Mooney and London have to miss time. Fortunately, that doesn’t sound like it will be the case. If either is out in Week 2, Atlanta will rely on Casey Washington and Ray-Ray McCloud to step up in their absence.<\/p>\n

Atlanta lost a close game to Tampa Bay in Week 1. After taking a fourth-quarter lead, the Buccaneers scored a touchdown to take a three-point advantage in the final minute.<\/p>\n

Without London or Mooney, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. still found a way to get the team into field goal range, but the Falcons missed the kick and lost, 23-20<\/a>, to the Buccaneers. Atlanta will attempt to rebound against the Vikings on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.”<\/p>\n
