The NFL Draft has not exactly been kind to Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. He has missed on picks left and right, and it has put the roster in an aging status<\/a>.<\/p>\n This iteration saw the Vikings pick at a position of need. They grabbed guard Donovan Jackson<\/a> and the mauler was a final piece to a newly overhauled interior offensive line<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Monday Night Football<\/a>, with the nation watching, Jackson balled out.<\/p>\n Donovan Jackson arrived in a big way for MN Vikings<\/p>\n All of the talk surrounded quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his hometown NFL debut. That\u2019s understandable given his position on the field. Donovan Jackson was also making his NFL debut, and the guard did so on a line without key left tackle Christian Darrisaw.<\/p>\n Not only did Jackson debut, but he impressed constantly over the course of the contest.<\/p>\n Vikings LG Donovan Jackson was excellent in his NFL debut tonight (31 pass pro snaps):<\/p>\n \u2022 0 sacks ~ 89.1 pass pro effectiveness grade<\/p>\n Great start for the Day 1 pick back in April.<\/p>\n \u2014 Ryan Fowler (@_RyanFowler_) September 9, 2025<\/a> <\/p>\n Not unexpectedly, when you keep the quarterback that clean, you should grade out well also. That was the case for the rookie Jackson on Monday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n Pro Football Focus assigned Jackson<\/a> with an overall grade of 74.3 He earned an astounding 88.1 pass blocking grade and a respectable 66.9 grade in run blocking. His overall grade was only bested by<\/a> Brian O\u2019Neill (83.2) and Ryan Kelly (76.4).<\/p>\n Related: Former NFL Linebacker Blown Away by This Vikings Play Call by KOC<\/a><\/p>\n Jackson\u2019s 88.1 pass blocking grade was so good that it not only led the Vikings, but was actually fourth among players<\/a> across the entire league in Week 1. Former top ten picks Joe Alt, Charles Cross, and Paris Johnson Jr. were the only men to outdo his production.<\/p>\n Minnesota Vikings line shines in Week 1<\/p>\n If Minnesota is going to be successful this season, it will be in large part due to the effectiveness of the offensive line. Kevin O\u2019Connell\u2019s team struggled to run the ball last year behind the unit up front. There was also a dropoff after Christian Darrisaw got hurt<\/a>.<\/p>\n Minnesota didn\u2019t have their star left tackle for Week 1, but it wouldn\u2019t be a shock to see him on the field Sunday night for the home opener. Their run blocking grade (67.4) also was solid at seventh overall.
