One of the first major injury stories of the NFL season has hit. The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly placing tight end George Kittle, a five-time All-Pro who scored a touchdown in Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks, on injured reserve after he hurt his hamstring and left the game in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

This comes a day after head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with shoulder and toe injuries,<\/a> leaving his status for Sunday’s game at the New Orleans Saints up in the air. And if that wasn’t enough 49ers news, the team is releasing kicker Jake Moody,<\/a> a 2023 third-round pick who missed 10 field goals last season and another on Sunday to go along with a blocked field goal attempt.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the Pittsburgh Steelers are signing safety Jabrill Peppers<\/a> after reportedly losing safety DeShon Elliott<\/a> for at least a couple weeks with an MCL strain. “He’s a football player first, positional player second,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told media<\/a> on Tuesday while confirming Peppers was in the building and signing with the team.<\/p>\n

Elliott, along with rookie first-round defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and linebacker Malik Harrison, will miss Sunday’s home opener<\/a> against the Seattle Seahawks, per Tomlin.<\/p>\n

As for more inactives this coming week, Dallas Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones told local radio Tuesday that he “suspects” DT Mazi Smith and running back Jaydon Blue will be inactive again on Sunday at home against the New York Giants.<\/p>\n
