The verdict is now in on the punishment that was handed down to Philadelphia defensive tackle Jalen Carter for spitting on Dak Prescott just six seconds into the Eagles first game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>. “Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> has been suspended without pay for one game for his act of unsportsmanlike conduct in last Thursday\u2019s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Because Carter was disqualified before participating in a single play, the suspension is considered to have been served in Week 1, and he will forfeit his game check. The NFL Players Association has informed the NFL that Carter will not contest the discipline and has waived his right to appeal. He is eligible to participate in the club\u2019s Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. League rules prohibiting unsportsmanlike conduct are of vital importance to everyone involved in the game. The NFL has been clear with players, clubs, and the NFLPA that it plans to place particular emphasis on sportsmanship this season.”<\/p>\n

If you’re interested in the amount of the fine that Carter will be giving up via game check, it equates to $57,222. Some folks felt that Dak Prescott should have had some discipline due to the initial spit that he would spew before Carter assumed that Prescott was attempting to spit on him. Either way, Carter will return to the Eagles in a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n
