\ud83d\udcf0 Left tackle Andrew Thomas (foot) will not practice today. It’s part of the rehab plan for him. He has made “good progress” and they hope to get him on the field the next two days. “I know he feels better.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Linebacker Micah McFadden, who was carted off the field in the season opener with a leg\/foot injury, will not play this week. The Giants are still working through his timetable, so there are no roster decisions yet on him.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Wide receiver Malik Nabers (back) will be limited today and “should be OK” for the game. He will still be in full pads and practicing today. They will see where he is afterwards.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (ankle) will not practice today but he “should be good.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence is also out today for the birth of his child. “Congratulations to him and his wife.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Daboll knows Cowboys first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer well and they worked together on the Jets’ staff years ago. “I have a lot of respect for him as a coach and a man.” He feels the same way about defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. The “hallmark” of his defense is to create turnovers. The Giants will have to do a good job taking care of the ball.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Daboll also has a relationship with special teams coordinator Nick Sorensen as a coach and former player. Kicker Brandon Aubrey and return specialist KaVontae Turpin are “point generators” for Dallas. They use Turpin on offense sometimes, too. “He’s a rare talent” especially with the new kickoff rules.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Anytime the Cowboys get to midfield, it’s a “chance for points.” Special teams will be “critical.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was decisive and accurate in Week 1. Schottenheimer had him “in the flow” and the Cowboys did a good job of mixing the run and the pass. They also controlled the line of scrimmage and have two big guards inside.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 You “better be aware” of wide receiver George Pickens as a vertical threat. Daboll expects him to have more opportunities going forward.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark, who came over from Green Bay in the Micah Parsons trade, has been a good addition. “He’s been a good player for the Packers for a long time and showed up.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Rookie Jaxson Dart is a “tireless worker” in the classroom and on the field. He will remain the No. 2 quarterback behind Russell Wilson.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Daboll meets with Dart every week and they go through a number of plays that he runs on the show team in practice. “You try to play that like a game the best you can with your timing, with your rhythm, with your eye control, with your mechanics, with when to take off, when not to take off.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcf0 Center John Michael Schmitz is tough, smart and does a good job of getting everything set up for the offensive line. Daboll has confidence in him as their center.<\/p>\n
