The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> are releasing wide receiver Cody White<\/a> just days before the team faces the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>. In lieu of that, the team is adding cornerback Shaquil Griffin to their 53-man roster with some injuries in the secondary.<\/p>\n

White made the 53-man roster straight out of training camp for the first time in his NFL career weeks ago and is likely still figured to be back on the practice squad with the Seahawks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been cut 8 times, been on 5 different teams. I\u2019ve been in the league for 6 years, I\u2019ve never made the 53 man roster after training camp until today!! All praise to the man above, perseverance and hard work. Just know there will be tough moments, tough days, tough years, just keep going and never quit!…I can finally call my momma and tell her I MADE IT!!\u201d<\/p>\n

White had the best game of his career this past season against the Los Angeles Rams. When DK Metcalf went down with an injury, the Seahawks immediately turned to White to step up.<\/p>\n

White made two catches for 44 yards, including a toe-tapping 28-yard catch on third-and-long to keep the game-tying drive going in regulation. That catch came directly after White blocked a Rams punt, too.<\/p>\n

White spent three years with the Steelers, too. He spent some time on special teams as a gunner, but most of his time was on the practice squad.<\/p>\n

That was until 2023, when White suffered a hamstring injury that ended his three-year tenure with the Steelers. However, because of his special teams experience, he found quick work with the Seahawks. Now, he is going back in hopes of securing his role with the team.<\/p>\n
