While there is no such thing as a truly “quiet” week in college football<\/a>, the Big Ten conference’s<\/a> came pretty close to one in Week 3.<\/p>\n

The conference’s top-ranked team, top-ranked Ohio State<\/a>, overcame a shaky start to in-state program Ohio to beat the Bobcats 37-9 in Ohio Stadium.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, No. 2 Penn State<\/a> similarly staved off an upset as Drew Allar, Kayton Allen and the Nittany Lions<\/a> beat Villanova 52-6 Happy Valley. Dante Moore led No. 4 Oregon to a win in its Big Ten opener against Northwestern, 34-14, along the shores of Lake Michigan.<\/p>\n

No. 22 Michigan<\/a> bounced back against Central Michigan without head coach Sherrone Moore, who was serving the first of back-to-back game suspensions. Bryce Underwood was impressive in the showing, completing 16 of 25 passes for 235 yards and a score.<\/p>\n

Michigan State<\/a> and USC also remained undefeated on the season with wins over Youngstown State and Purdue, respectively.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t all good for the Big Ten in Week 3, however. Luke Fickell and Wisconsin<\/a> struggled in a 38-14 loss to No. 18 Alabama that wasn’t as close as the score suggested, and are now 2-1 to start the season. And Big Ten newcomer UCLA fell to an 0-3 record<\/a> that seemed impossible at the start of the season following a 35-10 drubbing by New Mexico.<\/p>\n
