Not the spot they should have been in.<\/p>\n
After Week 1, we talked about controlling the controllables and stopping the self-inflicted wounds. In Week 1, that was penalties. Fast forward to Week 2. They fixed it, sort of. I mean, they weren\u2019t the same penalties. Does that count? Because it was a new problem. In the second quarter alone, they had five illegal shifts. I have a feeling I know what is going to be on the agenda for practice this week.<\/p>\n
Now, more of a problem is where is Brian Thomas Jr.? I don\u2019t know who that was out there wearing No. 7, but it wasn\u2019t BTJ. That might have been Thomas Brian. But whoever that guy was, hopefully, he does like Urban Meyer and misses the plane back to Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
OK, that\u2019s enough of the bad. It is only Week 2. The sky isn\u2019t falling. There is a long way to go, and there are some major bright spots.<\/p>\n
If there is a question about whether Bhayshul Tuten is ready for a bigger workload, it has been answered. Tuten was scootin\u2019 and scoring. He is explosive. The TD catch and run was great, but he caught a screen pass that he took for 24 yards. That play was a thing of beauty. I don\u2019t want to say it, but I will. This is the most explosive backfield the Jags have had since … 2008 If you know, you know.<\/p>\n
But all of the good stuff from the game will get lost in just how bad the fourth quarter was. Three pretty good quarters of football, and it all came unraveled in the fourth. A dropped pass in the end zone. A dropped pass on fourth down and a pass interference call on a fourth down. Those plays can be the difference in a game, and they were for the Jags.<\/p>\n
Good teams close out games. The Jags haven\u2019t reached that level yet. Maybe soon. Maybe against the Texans. The sooner they find that fourth quarter magic, the better. <\/p>\n
