Pro Football Focus (PFF) analyst Mason Cameron recently outlined one final offseason move he’d like to see each NFC team make<\/a>. For the San Francisco 49ers, that move involves strengthening the interior offensive line\u2014an area that, aside from a seventh-round draft pick, has been largely overlooked this offseason.<\/p>\n Quarterback Brock Purdy<\/a> is expected to receive a massive contract extension\u2014likely the largest in franchise history\u2014positioning him among the NFL’s highest-paid players.<\/p>\n “If you’re going to hand your quarterback a lucrative contract, it would also be wise to shore up the protection in front of him,” Cameron wrote. “While the 49ers have taken a few stabs at solidifying the interior this offseason, more veteran depth would go a long way.”<\/p>\n The 49ers lost starting left guard Aaron Banks<\/a> in free agency and plan to hold a competition for the job. PFF appears to view Ben Bartch<\/a> as the current frontrunner, but he’ll face competition from Nick Zakelj<\/a>, Matt Hennessy<\/a>, Spencer Burford<\/a>, and rookie Connor Colby<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cameron highlighted one veteran lineman who could provide valuable depth and experience\u2014former Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings guard Dalton Risner.<\/p>\n “Dalton Risner would profile as a positive addition, given his experience and grading profile as a pass blocker, having earned a 76.1 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2024.”<\/p>\n Risner has experience at both guard positions, playing exclusively on the left side during his first five NFL seasons before transitioning to the right in 2024.
