Minnesota Vikings<\/a> starting quarterback JJ McCarthy suffered an ankle injury during his team’s Sunday night loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and he’ll likely be sidelined for his team’s NFL Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> at U.S. Bank Stadium, according to head coach Kevin O’Connell.<\/p>\n

The Vikings are expected to start backup Carson Wentz against the Bengals. O’Connell indicated that Max Brosmer will back up Wentz.<\/p>\n

ESPN reported that<\/a> McCarthy is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain.<\/p>\n

The Bengals are expected to start backup quarterback\u00a0Jake Browning<\/a>\u00a0after head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that starter Joe Burrow’s toe injury likely will require surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

O’Connell announced that running back Aaron Jones also is expected to miss the game against the Bengals because of a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

Minnesota’s starting center, former Lakota West High School standout\u00a0Ryan Kelly<\/a>, left the Vikings’ Sunday night loss to Atlanta with what the team announced as a concussion. He was declared out<\/a>, and fans expressed concern on social media because of his concussion history during his nine seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n

Vikings tackle Justin Skule, who was filling in for injured starter Christian Darrisaw, has a concussion, O’Connell confirmed after the game.<\/p>\n

O’Connell said Monday that Kelly and Skule are both in concussion protocol.<\/p>\n
