The 49ers are working through a handful of injuries heading into Week 3. Here are some updates as of Thursday: OL Spencer Burford<\/a> (knee) and WR Jauan Jennings<\/a> (ankle\/shoulder) have not practiced so far this week. DL Yetur Gross-Matos<\/a> (knee), FB Kyle Juszczyk<\/a> (concussion), and DB Siran Neal<\/a> (concussion) were all limited on Thursday’s practice. WR Jordan Watkins<\/a> (calf) and T Trent Williams<\/a> (knee\/vet day) were also limited. On a positive note, rookie RB Jordan James<\/a> (finger) was a full participant all week.<\/p>\n As for QB Brock Purdy<\/a> (shoulder\/toe), he’s been limited in practice but said he’s encouraged by the progress: “It’s been a day-to-day thing this week, and I feel like I’m happy with the progress that I’ve been making with my foot and toe. So more than anything, it’s just going to be a day-to-day thing on how I feel.”<\/p>\n Q: What was the best moment in Week 2 for LB Fred Warner<\/a>?! \u2013 @zsombi_mlnr58<\/p>\n Easy one: Warner’s third-quarter forced fumble against Saints RB Alvin Kamara. Not only did it stall the Saints drive, but it also tied him with Hall of Famer Patrick Willis for the most forced fumbles (16) in franchise history. The Faithful travel better than any fan base in the league. You could hear 49ers chants echoing through the Superdome in Week 2. Warner and Dee Winters<\/a> are flying around at linebacker, while Nick Bosa<\/a> and Bryce Huff<\/a> have been setting the tone off the edge. I’ve also loved seeing rookies Mykel Williams<\/a> and Upton Stout<\/a> step in and contribute right away. And when it’s mattered most, the defense has closed out both wins. Bosa sealed it in Seattle with a late sack and fumble recovery, and Huff finished the job in New Orleans with a strip-sack. Offensively, establishing the run early and protecting the football will be critical.
