<\/p>\nSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has fallen victim to an absurd trend regarding fake pull quotes on social media.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, a Facebook post featuring an apparent quote from Kittle went viral. It had to do with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University. The conservative activist was honored with a moment of silence before several NFL games in Week 2.<\/p>\n

“I\u00a0love football because it unites people,” the quote stated. “But lately, I\u2019ve seen politics being dragged into it far too often. Charlie Kirk may matter to some, but he has no place in the NFL. Football is for the fans, the competition, and the love of the game \u2014 not for politics.”<\/p>\n
There’s one huge issue with this Facebook post: Kittle never said that about Kirk.<\/p>\n

It turns out angry social media users messaged Kittle and his wife, Claire, because of this fake quote making the rounds on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Kittle, he had to release a statement online just to calm people down.<\/p>\n
“Couple of things.. this is a fake quote,” Kittle wrote, via SFGATE<\/a>. “I hope most of you realize that. Also, that above account only posts fake news\/reports, please ignore them. The wild messages I\u2019m receiving from people made me have to address it. Have a good night.”<\/p>\n Claire Kittle also fired back at everyone sending “sickening” messages to her family online.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is clearly a fake quote,\u201d\u00a0Claire wrote on her Instagram Story, via Daily Mail.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cHow sick is the world that someone actually took the time to write and post this and about George of all people. What\u2019s even more sickening is that George had to address this on social media because of the hate coming in. Leave us alone and goodnight.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n It’s worth noting that Houston Texans quarterback C.J.
