The Detroit Lions<\/a> look back on track after a 52-21 victory<\/a> over the Chicago Bears<\/a> on Sunday, Sept. 14. But a big test comes on Monday, Sept. 22 when the Lions travel to face the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> for a primetime matchup.<\/p>\n Both the Lions (1-1) and the Ravens (1-1) enter the game with identical records and Super Bowl aspirations, but the Ravens enter as a five-point favorite against the Lions as Detroit is 0-4 all-time in Baltimore.<\/p>\n One big reason why the Lions’ offense broke through against the Bears on Sunday was the quality of the passing attack, with quarterback Jared Goff recently named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week<\/a> after a five-touchdown performance.<\/p>\n Ahead of the big game, the Lions had their media availabilities at their training facility in Allen Park to discuss what they need to do to keep up the momentum.<\/p>\n One of the big storylines this week has been the availability of injured defensive end Marcus Davenport<\/a>. While the Lions are staying coy, there was an update on his status.<\/p>\n Here’s a recap of the press conference and practice at the Allen Park facility:<\/p>\n Dan Campbell press conference and Lions practice updates<\/p>\n As expected, Lions defensive end Marcus Davenport was not seen at practice on Thursday as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury suffered during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n Offensive tackle Taylor Decker was seen walking around practice without pads, present but not participating in drills. Linebacker Jack Campbell was not seen at practice.<\/p>\n The Lions are expected to release their full injury report later this afternoon, and we will have that update here when they do.<\/p>\n Lions passing game coordinator David Shaw didn’t mince words about quarterback Jared Goff in his press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n “Jared Goff is elite,” he said. “Whatever category that you put together of elite players, he’s in that category.”<\/p>\n Goff had a near-perfect passer rating (156.0) against the Chicago Bears on Sunday while going 23-of-28 on pass attempts for 334 yards and five touchdowns. Shaw praised the veteran’s growth 10 years into his NFL career.<\/p>\n “He’s one of those guys that just got better every single year,” he said. “From year three to year 10, every year. There’s another tool in the toolbox. Everything’s a little bit better. His decision-making and accuracy are at an elite level.”<\/p>\n Lions rookie receiver Isaac TeSlaa has only made two catches this season, but both have been highlight-reel hauls that have gotten Lions fans particularly excited about the receivers’ future.<\/p>\n Lions wide receiver coach Scottie Montgomery called TeSlaa’s one-handed catch against the Chicago Bears on Sunday “spectacular,” and then made a joke about his pass-catching ability.<\/p>\n “People say that he has great hands, right? I don’t necessarily know that he has great hands. I haven’t seen his left hand yet,” he said while smirking.<\/p>\n The Lions are slowly getting TeSlaa more involved into their game-day plans, with Montgomery saying that he’s looking for TeSlaa to stay on the same trajectory.<\/p>\n “It’s only the next opportunity that you get is most important,” he said.<\/p>\n Lions coach Dan Campbell praised the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> and coach John Harbaugh ahead of Detroit’s Monday Night Football matchup with the Super Bowl contenders.<\/p>\n “These guys are always competitive. Rugged team, tough, discipline, really good players,” he said.<\/p>\n The Lions have had two vastly different results against two divisional opponents in their first two games of the season. Their Week 1 road game against the Green Bay Packers showed a ton of communication breakdowns leading to a 27-13 blowout loss, while their Week 2 home opener against the Chicago Bears showed a potent offense operating nearly at its potential in a 52-21 blowout win.<\/p>\n Campbell says he wants to see if that steady improvement can translate into playing well against another tough opponent in a more hostile environment than Ford Field.<\/p>\n “Now I want to see us improve on the road against a really good opponent,” he said. “There’s a lot of things I think are similar between us.
