Houston Texans<\/a> defensive back Jimmie Ward can’t return for another week, but he is now eligible to return from the NFL’s perspective.<\/p>\n

The veteran defensive back was removed from the commissioner\u2019s exempt list by the NFL one week following the Montgomery County grand jury’s decision not to indict him on family violence charges from earlier this offseason. Ward, who has been dealing with a foot injury, will now be moved from the exempt list to the physically unable to perform list.<\/p>\n

Should Ward be cleared following Week 4’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans<\/a>, Ward could be added to the roster ahead of the bye week. The veteran has not practiced since he suffered a foot injury last season against the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n

Arrested on June 12 for the alleged family violence in his Magnolia home, Ward was accused by a woman that he “violently assaulted her multiple times, both sexually and physically, “in the presence of their child. He was also arrested on Aug. 7 for violating his parole conditions for drinking achohol, which led to him spending a night in jail.<\/p>\n

Ward claimed following the second arrest that he didn’t know testing positive for alcohol was against his conditions.<\/p>\n

The Texans take on the Titans this Sunday at noon CT.<\/p>\n
