It wasn&#8217;t the team that took him, but the round he went.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Texas quarterback was the 231st overall selection, the last of 14 quarterbacks selected in the seven rounds.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/other\/quinn-ewers-is-past-surprising-slip-in-the-draft-now-the-dolphins-qb-is-aiming-to-go-get-noticed\/ar-AA1EurWV?ocid=BingNewsSerp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:didn\u2019t expect to fall;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">didn\u2019t expect to fall<\/a> as low as I did,\u201d Ewers said Friday, via Alainis Thames of the Associated Press. \u201cIt is what it is at the end of the day, and I have the same opportunity that everybody else does, and I\u2019m beyond thankful for that. I just want to go in there and play my game and learn and develop as a quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ewers begins his NFL career behind Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>Despite making 36 starts and winning 27 games of those in college, Ewers has a lot of learning and growing to do before he will see the field in a regular-season NFL game. First things first is learning Mike McDaniel&#8217;s complex playbook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of guys out there right now, and everyone\u2019s fighting for the same job,\u201d Ewers said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re all competitive, but it\u2019s cool at the same time just because at the end of the day some of these guys are going to end up being teammates with us.
