According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles are signing cornerback Eli Ricks<\/a> to their practice squad. Ricks was waived by the team earlier in the month, but now returns to a place where there is a good amount of familiarity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe #Eagles<\/a> are set to sign cornerback Eli Ricks to their practice squad, sources tell @CBSSports<\/a>,\u201d Zenitz said<\/a> via X. \u201cA return to Philadelphia for Ricks, who played in 23 games for the Eagles the last two seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ricks went undrafted in 2023 after spending one season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Baton Rouge is where Ricks got his college football career started, spending two seasons under Ed Orgeron<\/a> at LSU<\/a>. There was a ton of hype for him coming out of IMG Academy<\/a> (FL), being ranked a five-star prospect per the Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.<\/p>\n

Moving back to the NFL, Ricks has seen some playing time. A total of 23 games played are on the resume, mostly as a member of the Eagles\u2019 special teams unit. He recorded 21 tackles, 1.0 tackles for a loss, and three pass breakups.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia clearly had a change of heart after previously letting go of Ricks. Now, there is some defensive back depth inside the organization if needed. The Eagles take the field again on Sunday, going up against a fourth consecutive tough opponent in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No team in the NFL may have better receivers than the Bucs.<\/p>\n

You can take the player out of the SEC but you can\u2019t take the SEC out of the player, especially when it comes to rivalries.\u00a0Jalen Hurts<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jordan Davis<\/a>\u00a0proved that Sunday in an interview with NBC on\u00a0Football Night in America.<\/p>\n

Analyst\u00a0Maria Taylor, a\u00a0Georgia<\/a>\u00a0alum, invited Davis, who played for the Bulldogs in college, to say \u201cGo Dawgs\u201d at the end of his interview. Georgia is set to play\u00a0Alabama\u00a0this coming weekend in Athens.<\/p>\n

Hurts, however, was in the background and not going to let that slide. The former Crimson Tide quarterback looked to the camera and\u00a0cut in with a classic \u201cRoll Tide.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Hurts played college football at Alabama from 2016-18 before playing his final season at\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a>. He has often shown his support for both schools since becoming a pro.<\/p>\n
