Rookie minicamp always delivers some feel-good storylines, highlighting players who might not make the final roster but capture attention with their unique journeys.<\/p>\n

This year, the New York Jets <\/a>have a particularly special one.<\/p>\n

Linebacker Giovanni Williams, the younger brother of All-Pros Quinnen<\/a> and Quincy<\/a> Williams, is getting his chance<\/a> to join the family legacy in New York with a rookie minicamp tryout.<\/p>\n

The Alabama native spent his first two college seasons at Texas A&M-Kingsville, a small Division II school, where he appeared in 15 games. He posted 69 total tackles (8.5 for loss) with three sacks, four pass deflections, and a forced fumble before transferring to Miles College, an HBCU in Fairfield, Alabama, for his final two college years.<\/p>\n

During his two seasons at Miles College, Williams recorded 31 total tackles (five for loss) with one sack throughout 13 games.<\/p>\n

Williams was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine and went undrafted. He did not land a contract with the team, but was invited to Florham Park for a tryout with the Jets.<\/p>\n

Throughout the Jets\u2019 three-day rookie minicamp<\/a>, Williams is looking to prove himself to the coaching staff in hopes of earning a spot on the 90-man roster, a step that would keep him with the team through minicamp, training camp, and the preseason on a full contract.<\/p>\n

The odds of that happening are slim, but his journey from Division II football to an NFL rookie tryout alongside his two brothers is still incredible.<\/p>\n
