For the second time this season, a Bronco has earned NFLPA Community MVP honors.<\/p>\n
Wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. has been named the Week 4 Community MVP for teaming up with the Colorado-based nonprofit WeeCycle to host a diaper distribution drive.<\/p>\n
Sherfield joined his wife and two children to distribute diapers, wipes, baby food and formula, according to the NFLPA’s press release.<\/p>\n
WeeCycle, according to the NFLPA, “works to recycle essential baby gear and match it with underserved families.”<\/p>\n
The donation event that Sherfield helped support took place during September’s Diaper Awareness week.<\/p>\n
Sherfield previously founded the Diamonds Amongst the Rough Foundation, which looks to empower youth in Sherfield’s hometown of Danville, Illinois. Earlier this year, the foundation raised nearly $100,000 to create a sports and performance center in Danville.<\/p>\n
Sherfield’s foundation has also organized a toy drive and back-to-school drive and a free annual football camp.<\/p>\n
As the NFLPA Community MVP, Sherfield will receive a $10,000 donation to the nonprofit of his choice and will be eligible of the Alan Page Community Award. The aforementioned award is the NFLPA’s highest honor, and the winner receives an additional $100,000 donation.<\/p>\n
