Quinyon Mitchell, one of the NFL’s top young cornerbacks, made a substantial impact Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mitchell made it known early that he wasn’t going to be pushed around, getting in the face of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield and offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs as the game got underway.<\/p>\n

With Mike Evans out, Quinyon Mitchell was primarily tasked with shadowing rising receiver Emeka Egbuka throughout the day. Most of Egbuka’s damage came on a busted pla<\/a>y where Eagles<\/a>‘ safety Andrew Mukuba didn’t locate the ball. When covered by Mitchell, Egbuka was ineffective.<\/p>\n

Chris Godwin made his season debut on Sunday and didn’t have any success when he faced Mitchell. Godwin was targeted three times with Mitchell as the nearest defender and failed to catch a single pass.<\/p>\n

Opposing quarterbacks rarely target Mitchell in coverage, especially now that Darius Slay is no longer in Philadelphia. With the Eagles still searching for consistency at the opposite corner spot, his ability to shut down one side of the field has been vital in limiting opposing offenses. Through the first four weeks of the 2025 season, Mitchell has graded out as one of the league’s top defensive backs.<\/p>\n

If yesterday’s performance was any indication, Quinyon Mitchell has cemented his status as an All-Pro-level corner.<\/p>\n
