The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> entered the offseason with at least two, arguably three, holes on the interior of their offensive line. Despite that, general manager John Schneider did not aggressively pursue upgrades in free agency. Instead, Schneider remained patient, selecting left guard Grey Zabel<\/a> with his first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Schneider also drafted interior offensive linemen Bryce Cabeldue and Mason Richman, but they’re late-round developmental picks who shouldn’t be expected to contribute in 2025. Instead, the Seahawks are counting on players like Olu Oluwatimi<\/a> and Christian Haynes<\/a> to develop.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Pro Football Focus recently named Seattle’s interior offensive line as their biggest remaining offseason need.<\/p>\n

“Even after drafting\u00a0Grey Zabel\u00a0in the first round, the Seahawks’ interior needs proven talent,” Trevor Sikkema wrote<\/a>. “Olusegun Oluwatimi\u00a0recorded just a 64.1 PFF overall grade last season at center, where he could very well start again this year. They\u2019ll also need\u00a0Christian Haynes\u00a0to step up after he failed to earn a starting spot last year.”<\/p>\n

The Seahawks believe in new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak<\/a> and offensive line coach John Benton. Together, their scheme will be tasked with helping the young blockers on Seattle’s roster perform at a higher level. There isn’t much Schneider can do now to improve the guard and center positions now, so focusing on in-house development is the key.<\/p>\n
