But Sherwood has struggled during the 2025 season and is part of the reason why the Jets defense has played so poorly through five games.<\/p>\n

Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Sherwood has played well but did acknowledge that he might be pressing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes when you have that \u2018C\u2019 on your chest, sometimes when you get that big contract, sometimes you feel like you need to do more,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cBut it\u2019s easy to get him dialed back. Just take care of your job along with making sure you get everything coordinated as far as the defense is concerned. I think that\u2019s just normal for most guys.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like where he\u2019s at. Obviously, he can do some things better along with a lot of us. I think you\u2019re going to see a guy that\u2019s going to continue to improve because of where his mindset is right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherwood said he does not feel any pressure because of the contract or captaincy but did say he wants to live up to the expectations those things brought.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t necessarily call it pressure,\u201d Sherwood said. \u201cBut obviously you know I want to live up to expectations because I did earn it. I know what type of player I am. Obviously, I want to play up to those expectations. I don\u2019t feel like I need to do more because I trust the men around me to do their job as well. It\u2019s about me doing my job consistently.\u201d<\/p>\n

It sounds like the Jets will get edge rusher Jermaine Johnson back this week. Johnson has missed the last three games with an ankle injury.<\/p>\n

He did not practice on Wednesday, but it sounds like the plan is for him to practice Thursday. Glenn said Thursday will be a big step for him, but there is optimism that he will play against the Broncos.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a really good chance that he\u2019ll be out there [Sunday],\u201d Glenn said.<\/p>\n

CB Michael Carter II (concussion) and WR Allen Lazard (personal) did not make the trip and have been ruled out for Sunday.
