Derek Carr certainly made the most of his first day of NFL retirement.<\/p>\n
The wife of the former Saints quarterback posted a new video Saturday of what Carr, 34, did in his free time after announcing Saturday he\u2019s stepping away from the game<\/a> following 11 years in the league.<\/p>\n In the family-filled Instagram clip, Heather Carr documented her husband running in the yard and working out with the couple\u2019s four children before the pair went on a date.<\/p>\n Derek Carr\u2019s wife, Heather Carr, revealed how the former Saints QB enjoyed his first day of NFL retirement. Heather Carr\/Instagram<\/p>\n \u201cEnding our first day of retirement,\u201d Heather said as she captured a smiling Carr in his office.<\/p>\n Carr, whose shoulder injury was revealed<\/a> earlier in the offseason, opted to retire in lieu of undergoing surgery that likely would have sidelined him for the 2025 season.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all the teammates, coaches, management, ownership, team officials and especially the fans who made this journey so special. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n Derek Carr began his NFL career with the Raiders in 2014. Charles Wenzelberg\/New York Post<\/p>\n A 2014 second-round pick, Carr spent the first nine years of his career with the Raiders, who drafted him 36th overall out of Fresno State.<\/p>\n Upon being released by the franchise in 2023, Carr signed a four-year, $150 million contract with the Saints. He spent the past two years in New Orleans.<\/p>\n In 169 appearances, Carr threw for 41,245 yards, 257 touchdowns and 112 interceptions.
