He suffered a heel injury in the Commanders’ Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. While he missed practice time last week, he played in Week 5 against the Chargers, catching eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. After not practicing on Thursday, Samuel returned as a limited participant in Friday’s practice, a positive sign for one of Washington’s biggest offseason additions.

With McLaurin sidelined in Week 5, Samuel was quarterback Jayden Daniels’ top target on Sunday against the Chargers. He was targeted 11 times, resulting in eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Samuel is the team’s leader in receptions (30), receiving yards (300), and receiving touchdowns (3), and would be a significant loss for Washington this week.

Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane have played understudy to Washington’s receivers this season, while Lane is also serving as the Commanders’ punt returner.

McCaffrey has recorded seven receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns this season, including a 50-yard bomb to end the half against the Chargers last Sunday.

Lane has had a quieter year at receiver, tallying six catches for 45 yards, and has yet to find the end zone on a catch. However, he ran back a 90-yard punt return in Washington’s Week 3 win against Las Vegas, and has recorded 177 punt return yards on the season.

Washington will have one final practice on Saturday before its Monday night matchup with Chicago at home—one final chance to see if any of the Commanders’ starting receivers’ injury status will shift.

This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Washington Commanders: What’s the latest on Terry McLaurin, other WRs?

Injuries have plagued the Washington Commanders‘ wide receiver room since the second week of the 2025 season, and…

[2070
254,374,692,391,2493,1705,7,17416,734,2920,1744,393,7187,6,1478,7186,111
0":"post-436382","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-chicago-bears","8":"tag-atlanta-falcons","9":"tag-bears","10":"tag-chicago","11":"tag-chicago-bears","12":"tag-chicagobears","13":"tag-deebo-samuel","14":"tag-football","15":"tag-injury-report","16":"tag-jayden-daniels","17":"tag-jaylin-lane","18":"tag-las-vegas","19":"tag-las-vegas-raiders","20":"tag-luke-mccaffrey","21":"tag-nfl","22":"tag-noah-brown","23":"tag-terry-mclaurin","24":"tag-washington-commanders
["GET
