Nick Chubb is unlikely to return to the Cleveland BrownsCredit: Getty 3<\/p>\n General manager Andre Berry revealed that Chubb is ‘increasingly unlikely’ to stayCredit: Getty<\/p>\n Berry didn’t exactly fill Browns fans with confidence that they could keep Chubb during an appearance on 92.3 The Fan<\/a>. <\/p>\n He said: “I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I would say that it’s probably increasingly unlikely [that Chubb will be staying].<\/p>\n “We do have two young guys that we liked. We think Jerome (Ford) plays a role. It’s basically kind of maybe seeing how the roles shake out in the running back room.<\/p>\n “You’re never going to rule out someone as near and dear to our heart as Nick, and I would expect him to take another step being a year removed from the knee injury. <\/p>\n “But I’d say a return is less likely, at least in the short term, with us right now.”<\/p>\n Running back Chubb, 29, has been with the Browns since 2018, becoming a four-time Pro Bowler and one of Cleveland’s star performers.<\/p>\n But injuries hampered his career in recent years and it seems that the Browns<\/a> are focusing their attention and finances on other running backs like Jerome Ford and draft picks Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.<\/p>\n And although the unlikely return of Chubb might be a blow to most Browns fans, it could spell something positive for Shedeur Sanders<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n NFL important dates 2025 season<\/p>\n March 12 – Free Agency begins<\/p>\n April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin<\/p>\n September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)<\/p>\n November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header<\/p>\n January 4, 2026 – End of regular-season<\/p>\n February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California<\/p>\n Sanders, whose high profile draft slide saw him selected in the fifth round by the Browns, could now benefit from the roster space likely to be vacated by Chubb<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 144th overall pick seemed a certain first or second round pick, but now has people questioning if he will even stay on at the Browns past the pre-season – especially given Cleveland’s third round selection of QB Dillon Gabriel.<\/p>\n ‘I’ve seen enough’ – Shedeur Sanders sparks controversy with arrival to Cleveland Browns facility after NFL Draft slide<\/p>\n But GM Berry has insisted that he isn’t paying attention to the media storm surrounding the Colorado Buffaloes thrower<\/a>.<\/p>\n He said: “No. I don\u2019t really pay any attention to any of that.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, we\u2019re super excited to have him, you know, we spent a lot of time with him in the process. <\/p>\n “He\u2019s a good kid.
