He practiced in limited fashion, but is not likely to play in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bowers did not participate in practice Wednesday or Thursday as he continues to work his way back from a PCL injury. However, he took the field Friday, which was a positive sign even though he was in a limited capacity.

But with the bye week looming, it does not appear Bowers will play in Sunday’s game. That means Michael Mayer is likely in line to take the starting role once again.

Bowers is one of three players who carry an injury designation for Sunday’s game. Wide receivers Jakobi Meyers and Alex Bachman are both questionable after limited practices. Everyone else is off the injury report, including defensive end Maxx Crosby, who appeared on the injury report Friday with a back injury and was limited. Crosby will be good to go for Sunday, though.

Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Meyers got some more work than Bowers did Friday. However, he sounded optimistic the second-year tight end would be able to come back soon. Las Vegas is off next week.

“Both of them got work today,” Carroll told reporters. “Jakobi got more than Brock did. It looked like he bounced back pretty well. We’re very hopeful that he’ll be available. Brock got his first work out here in a while. … I watched him when he was working with the trainers and really going good. We’re really close on him.”

Brock Bowers suffered the injury in the season opener against the New England Patriots and has been dealing with it ever since. He played in the next three games, but missed the Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts and Week 6 game against the Tennessee Titans. Now, he’s in line to miss his third straight game when the Raiders take on the Chiefs this week.

Bowers started the year off strong, hauling in five receptions for 103 yards. But his production dipped after the injury, totaling 14 receptions for 122 yards across the following three games. In his last appearance against the Chicago Bears, he had five catches for 46 yards in a 25-24 loss at Allegiant Stadium.

The Las Vegas Raiders downgraded tight end Brock Bowers to doubtful after Friday’s practice.
