Nico Collins<\/a> might be only 26, but the Houston Texans<\/a> wide receiver is considered a veteran in the NFL entering Year 5.<\/p>\n

He’s a leader in the locker room, a trendsetter in space with a ball in his hands and a nearly guaranteed 1,000-yard playmaker when healthy. He’s also ready to take on the role of motivator while working with Iowa State<\/a> wide receivers Jayden Higgins <\/a>and Jaylin Noel<\/a> throughout their rookie campaigns as the Texans<\/a> contend for an AFC South division title.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s crazy how time flies. It\u2019s a blessing to be in this position, man. It\u2019s only right for me to lead by example. I know they\u2019re gonna push me, I\u2019m gonna push them,” Collins said at his football camp, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC<\/a>. “That\u2019s the only way we can get better and we\u2019re gonna shine on Sundays. So, push each other and let them boys know, let the DBs know what\u2019s up. I can\u2019t wait to join the guys, man. I\u2019m excited to get back with them boys, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins, who earned his first Pro Bowl nod last season with 1,006 yards on 68 receptions with seven touchdowns in 12 games, called it “a blessing” to serve as a mentor for younger players.\u00a0When asked about the arrival of the two Cyclones, Collins praised the duo’s work ethic and consistency during their final season in Ames.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey got some dawgs, they got\u00a0some playmakers,\u201d Collins said. \u201cDeMeco [Ryans], Nick [Caserio], they know what they are doing. You got Nick Caley, too. It\u2019s going to be fun, a great year. I can\u2019t wait to get going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caley, who previously worked as the pass-game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams<\/a>, will look to bring a new style of play at the receiver position outside of Collins and veteran Christian Kirk. The hope in Houston is that it won\u2019t take long for everything to come together for the reigning champs in the AFC South.<\/p>\n
