A look at the trends for the Cardinals and their season opener over the last five years.<\/p>\n
The NFL will release its 2025 regular-season schedule Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. Arizona time. At that point, we will see how many prime-time games the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> have, when they have their bye week and whether they start the season at home or on the road.<\/p>\n Let’s look at the last five years of the Cardinals’ season openers.<\/p>\n Arizona Cardinals season openers since 20202020: At the San Francisco 49ers2021: At the Tennessee Titans<\/a>2022: Home vs. Kansas City Chiefs2023: At the Washington Commanders2024: At the Buffalo Bills<\/a><\/p>\n The Cardinals have opened the season on the road in four of the last five years. The one time they opened at home, they were coming off a playoff appearance.<\/p>\n They have faced an AFC team in three of the last five years.<\/p>\n They have played a divisional game once.<\/p>\n So what might the Cardinals’ season opener be?<\/p>\n Immediately, their games against the Houston Texans<\/a>, Indianapolis Colts<\/a>, Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>, Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> come into focus.<\/p>\n They would open on the road against the Colts, Texans or Bengals.<\/p>\n Now, the NFL already announced that the 2025 league season opener is between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n Knowing that, we can perhaps look at a Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks or Los Angeles Rams.<\/p>\n With the Cardinals having some sort of expectations for 2025, perhaps this is a season they open at home.<\/p>\n That could be an NFC West game or, if it an AFC game, it could be the Houston Texans or Jacksonville Jaguars.<\/p>\n We will find out soon enough.<\/p>\n Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire’s Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast.
