How does such a talent play for three teams in one season? Because NHL revenue streams wouldn\u2019t float a kayak. The Stars signed Rantanen to an eight-year, $96 million extension that ranks among the league\u2019s priciest. For $12M a year, you couldn\u2019t get a decent middle-of-the-rotation starter. Jon Gray\u2019s costing the Rangers $14M this year. If I were Bruce Bochy, I think I\u2019d rather have Rantanen.<\/p>\n

\u2014 My advice to the Stars<\/a>: Beat the Jets on Tuesday. First team to three wins in a seven-game series go on to win it about 80% percent of the time.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Brian Schottenheimer waited 51 years to become a head coach, and how does the NFL celebrate it? Gives him a road game against Philadelphia<\/a> to kick off the 2025 season. Defending Super Bowl champs are 13-5 in this Thursday night format, and the home team is 17-6. Don\u2019t see Schotty bucking that history.<\/p>\n

\u2014 George Pickens<\/a> didn\u2019t exactly admit he\u2019d done anything wrong as a Steeler during a conference call with Dallas media last week. Just kept saying he\u2019s a work in progress. As are we all, amen? But the rest of us didn\u2019t blow a pretty good gig in Pittsburgh, where Pickens would still be if he\u2019d just behaved.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Bill Belichick<\/a> celebrated Mother\u2019s Day weekend by sitting on the front row for the Miss Maine contest, where his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, finished third. According to the New York Post, Jordon then sequestered with the rest of the contestants for a pizza and pajama party and Bill left. Probably showed up the next morning with the rest of the parents.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Give Jaylon Smith<\/a> this much: He doesn\u2019t quit easily. Missed the entire 2016 season after the Cowboys drafted the Notre Dame linebacker in the second round that spring. Played pretty well for three seasons before getting passed from the Cowboys to the Packers to the Giants to the Raiders. Played one game in 2023, then missed all of \u201924. Signed up with the Raiders again over the weekend.<\/p>\n
