New York Jets<\/a> owner Woody Johnson showed support for head coach Aaron Glenn ahead of an NFL Week 8 game against the 3-4<\/a> Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> at Paycor Stadium, despite the Jets’ 0-7 start this season.<\/p>\n

But in doing so, Johnson threw starting quarterback Justin Fields under the bus.<\/p>\n

“It’s hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that we’ve got,” Johnson said, according to Newsday’s Tom Rock<\/a>. “He’s got the ability, but something is not jibing. \u2026 If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results.”<\/p>\n

“If we could just complete a pass, it would look good,” Johnson added. “You gotta convince them that you could do something. Otherwise it’s hard to have a game that you could win.”<\/p>\n

Fields was benched for Tyrod Taylor<\/a> during the Jets’ Week 7 loss to Carolina.<\/p>\n

One day after Fields was replaced by Taylor after halftime, Glenn told reporters he hadn’t decided which QB will start<\/a> in Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported Oct. 21<\/a> that the Jets are moving toward naming Taylor the new starter.<\/p>\n

Taylor, who turned 36 in August, played his first four NFL seasons for the Ravens, when Joe Flacco was Baltimore’s starting quarterback.<\/p>\n
